Thirteen artists have focussed on water and used photographic and acoustic processes to create new perspectives and a new proximity to questions of ecology and climate change. For the works shown in the exhibition, they use the existential element of water as a source of inspiration and a flowing medium and deal with the perpetual but very sensitive water cycle, with the (endangered) diversity of life in bodies of water and at their borders, with the not always peaceful coexistence of water and humans.
The artworks were developed during three site-specific work phases in 2023 and 2024. As hosts, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, the University of the Arts in Utrecht and the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design not only organised the artist residencies, but also symposia, excursions, workshops and local exhibitions, and initiated an intensive exchange between the art world, academia and the public. All three locations and all 13 artists are coming together for the first time in the Dresden Technology Collections.

Workshops and lectures by artists and scientists provide insights into the methods of artistic exploration and current research on water in the age of climate change. As a bonus, the artists have written short instructions for their water experiments, which the public can try out for themselves at home.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with texts and numerous illustrations.
