The COOL X exhibition is an expedition into the world of micro- and nanoelectronics and takes a look at the next generation of energy-efficient information and communication technology. Interactive exhibits make it possible to experience how a chip is created and how it is constructed, and show how researchers from Saxony's Cool Silicon cluster of excellence want to limit the dramatically increasing energy consumption of computers, mobile phones and global information networks.
Cool X asks: Are there limits to miniaturisation? What does a jay have to do with wireless networks? How much energy is in the air? And what can each individual do to save the digital world from energy collapse?
The exhibition was sponsored by the Cool Silicon cluster of excellence and designed together with scientists from the research projects.
